ICAR-NINFET Hosts CSR Roadshow in Kolkata

PARTHA ROY, KOLKATA: ICAR-NINFET Kolkata hosted a CSR Conclave Roadshow on Tuesday, 7th July 2026 as a prelude to the main ICAR CSR Conclave scheduled for July 15, 2026, in New Delhi. The event follows three earlier roadshows organised by ICAR in Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru. More than 20 Directors and senior scientists from various ICAR institutions participated in the Kolkata roadshow.

An exhibition showcasing technologies developed by ICAR organisations in the eastern region of the country was also organised for a large number of corporate representatives , scientists and others. The exhibition aimed to spread awareness about various ICAR technologies available for entrepreneurs for commercial production. The roadshow was organised in collaboration with Agrinnovate India Limited (Agln), New Delhi. Dr. Praveen Malik, CEO of Agrinnovate India Limited (Agln), New Delhi, briefed participants on the objectives of the upcoming CSR Conclave. Presentations were made on the following thematic areas: 1. Climate Proofing of Indian Agriculture 2. Soil Health Improvement through Nature-Based Solutions and Diversification of Crops 3. Agriculture for Health 4. Agriculture Skills 5. Women in Agriculture and Extension Shri Gyanendra D. Tripathi, Additional Secretary (DARE) & Secretary (ICAR), graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

Shri Sandeep Sarkar, Additional Secretary (DARE) & Financial Advisor (ICAR), moderated the presentations and the brainstorming session. The presentations were delivered by Dr. Gouranga Kar, Dr. Pradip Dey, Dr. G. Kadirvel, Dr. Abhijit Kar, and Dr. D.B. Shakyawar. Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) is one of the largest national agricultural systems worldwide. Addressing the media, Dr. D.B. Shakyawar, Director, ICAR-NINFET, Kolkata, said the CSR Conclave aims to provide a platform for large corporate houses in both the private and public sectors to collaborate with the government.

The goal is to increase the agriculture sector’s contribution to India’s GDP from the current level of around 16% to 20% as part of the Viksit Bharat@2047 vision. He added that the Conclave will explore opportunities to synergise the strengths and resources of the government and corporate sector to promote modernisation and expansion of the agriculture sector, new livelihood creation, while improving the quality of life of farmers and others associated with it.
