‘Parivartan’ Need to be Implemented at Ground Level to Trigger Growth: WB Minister Dilip Ghosh

PARTHA ROY, KOLKATA: Addressing a Calcutta Chamber of Commerce session on August 24, 2026, West Bengal Cabinet Minister Sri Dilip Ghosh outlined the BJP-led government’s vision to drive transformative growth across both urban and rural areas. Anchored in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” philosophy and traditional Bharatiya values, Ghosh emphasized modernizing 180 ‘Kisan Mandis’, expanding food processing, and building multipurpose cold storage facilities restructure delegation of power in panchayats. These initiatives aim to boost agricultural exports—including potato, various fruits and vegetables to international markets—and significantly raise farmers’ incomes.

Ghosh stressed youth energy will be harnessed and youths and women will be involved to push for change across sectors for development.

Supported by a ₹8,565.84 crore agriculture budget allocation, the state is also retraining administrative machinery and rolling out the VB-G RAM G scheme to guarantee 125 days of rural employment focused on core infrastructure. Chamber President Anant Saharia welcomed the moves, expressing optimism for a new era of development in West Bengal during double-engine Centre & State Governments.
