World Environment Day observed by CII with thrust to control pollution

PARTHA ROY, Kolkata: World Environment Day (WED) was celebrated on June 5 2025, with the theme “Beat Plastic Pollution “. Celebrating and sharing the global spirit of WED, CII organised several initiatives, including an e-waste collection drive, sapling distribution, and interactive workshops. CII West Bengal State Council ESG panel installed SmartReBin at Woodlands Hospital, in Kolkata. CII organised a workshop with emphasis on spreading awareness about various aspects of pollution with a thrust on controlling plastic pollution in everyday life as it is damaging the biological system & health of humans and animals in fact the entire biosphere.

Recycling of single use plastic was emphasized. Globally & locally , there is urgent need for synergy of strategy, policies and actions by all stakeholders including industries, Governments, advocacy groups, scientists , consumers & others to initiate measures to work on replacement of single use plastics with eco friendly biodegradable materials as well as control sources of production of single use plastics to minimise negative impacts of microplastics on biological system & health of human beings & others in biosphere.
