“Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee Bhasha Bhavan” is new name Bhasha Bhavan at National Library in Kolkata

Partha Roy, Kolkata: A grateful nation paid tribute to one of his great son, freedom fighter, educationist, visionary leader of modern India Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee on his 123rd Birth Anniversary on 6th July by renaming Bhasha Bhavan at National Library complex in Kolkata under Ministry of Culture, Government of India as “Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee Bhasha Bhavan”.

On 5th July 2023 Smt. Anuradha Sood , Under Secretary to Government of India conveyed to Prof. Ajay Pratap Singh Director General of National Library Kolkata about Union Culture Minister ‘s decision of renaming Bhasha Bhavan as “Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee Bhasha Bhavan”.

Earlier Padma Bhushan Swapan Dasgupta former Member of Parliament President of Khola Hawa organised Syama Prasad Lecture on 30 June 2023 at ICCR Kolkata. Khola Hawa organised Syama Prasad Lecture was given by External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar at ICCR Kolkata.

Syama Prasad Lecture was attend by noted International Indian industrialist Shri Shisir Bajoria who is also Chairman of Indian Institute of Management ,Shri Sarup Prasad Ghosh Director MAKAIAS , Mr. Ashish Middha Regional Passport Officer, Ms. Minakshi Misra Head and Zonal Director of ICCR Kolkata, large no.of serving and retired Indian diplomats, members of civil society & intelligensia, academics of Kolkata and from around West Bengal and neighbouring states.

Dr. S. Jaishankar spoke on broader political philosophy of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee and it’s role & positive impact in strengthening unity of various states and society despite socio-cultural and religious diversity. Dr. Jaishankar also mentioned about highly successful State visit of Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to United States which will enhance depth of India-US Relationship.

Dr. Jaishankar mentioned about Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee’s role as First Industry Minister of independent India in the cabinet of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Dr. Jaishanker mentioned Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee’s role in development of micro, small, medium enterprises sector in India.

Dr. Jaishanker highlighted role of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government in implementing philosophy of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee both in reformation of policies for growth, strengthening political unity among all states of India, socio-economic development, strengthening internal security, bridging the gap between various religious groups as well as India’s relationship with other nations. Dr. Jaishankar emphasized implementation of wider philosophy of Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee in India’s international relationship by Modi Government enhanced image of India amongst committee of nations globally.
