Students Of Techno India Group Erect Durga Idol from Recycled Materials

NEWS WAVE INDIA: Techno India Group, the largest private education group in Eastern India, today unveiled a Maa Durga idol made out of recycled materials, created by students of Techno India Group Public schools , techno India colleges and techno India university, West Bengal. The idol has been installed at the Techno India Main Campus in Salt Lake, Kolkata. The event aims to spread awareness towards celebrating festivals with minimum wastage and more sustainable approach.

Fifteen students from the Group’s schools, colleges and university, along with 2 Art teachers volunteered to craft the innovatively grand idol of the Goddess using only recycled materials like Fevicol Drum, Colour Drum, Sanitizing Drum, Chemical Drum, Cosmetic Bottles, Cold Drinks Bottles, Plastic bowls, PVC Pipes, Flexible Pipes, Electric casing and various types of Nuts, Bolts, Screws, lGue, GI Wire and GI L Angle. The entire process took them about a month to complete.

“We, at Techno India always nurture the creative abilities of the students across our schools, colleges and university. With UNESCO attributing Durga Pujo as the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, this year the fervour has gone up a lot higher. The excitement and frenzy are visible everywhere. To add further joy to the festive spirit with a dash of creativity by our students, we decided to come up with an idol of Maa Durga made from recycled materials. People can visit our campus to see this unique work of art,” said Prof Manoshi Roy Chowdhury, Co-Chairperson, Techno India Group.

The programme started with the welcome note by Prof Manoshi Roy Chowdhury, Co-Chairperson, Techno India Group. It was followed by the unveiling of the idol of Goddess Durga by Smt Bratati Bandhopadhyay. The crescendo of Dhaaks reverberated in the atmosphere to complement the invoking of the Goddess. There was a prize distribution ceremony for painting competition for the students of Techno India Group on the theme the vision of durga through the student’s eyes. There was a mini Dhunuchi Dance performance to celebrate the occasion.
