NEWS WAVE INDIA: In a stunning start to their 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) campaign, the Rajasthan Royals thrashed the Sunrisers Hyderabad by a whopping 72 runs in a one-sided match on Sunday.
Opting to bat first after winning the toss, the Rajasthan Royals openers Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal provided a blistering start, both scoring half-centuries. Captain Sanju Samson also played a crucial knock of 55 runs, which helped the team post a mammoth total of 203 for 5.
In response, the Sunrisers Hyderabad never looked comfortable in their chase and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Trent Boult and Yuzvendra Chahal were the pick of the bowlers for Rajasthan Royals, sharing six wickets between them to bundle out the Sunrisers Hyderabad for a meagre 131 for 8.
Jason Holder and Ravichandran Ashwin also contributed with a wicket each for Rajasthan Royals.
Overall, it was a commanding performance by the Rajasthan Royals, who dominated the game from the start and secured a convincing victory in their opening match of the IPL.
