“Mother Teresa Chair for Peace” to be introduce at St. Xavier’s University Kolkata in 2024

Partha Roy, Kolkata: Government of West Bengal will introduce & fund ” Mother Teresa Chair for Peace” at St. Xavier’s University Kolkata from 2024. Chief Minister of West Bengal Smt. Mamata Banerjee had earlier announced in this regard during 4th Convocation of the St. Xavier’s University Kolkata on 6th February 2023.

Shri P. Chidambaram, MP (Rajya Sabha) will deliver a lecture on “The Future of Democracy” at St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata on November 25, 2023 at 4:00 P.M.. On the occassion, Shri P. Chidambaram will also release a book titled “Development, Decentralisation and Democracy” authored by Rev. Dr. John Felix Raj, SJ, Vice Chancellor of St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata and Prof. Prabhat Kumar Datta, adjunct Professor St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata.

St. Xavier’s university will be hosting a Christmas get-together exclusively for the Vice Chancellors of the Universities, Principals of Colleges and Higher Secondary Schools in Kolkata. The best minds will have an open house discussion on the exodus of students from Bengal to different states and countries as well as ways and means of attracting students from other states and countries to Bengal and on the various aspects of National Education Policy (NEP).

St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata will organise the Annual Christmas Lecture on Jesuit Legacy and Education at The Centre for Research & Social Outreach, Parasmoni, Santiniketan on December 16, 2023, at 11 am which will be delivered by Rev. Dr. John Felix Raj, SJ.

The 5th Convocation of St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata will be held on February 10, 2024. Mr. Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella, Former United Nations Under Secretary General, Chair of United Nations Energy and a celebrated economist from Sierra Leone will deliver the convocation address in person. Rev.Father Ignacimuthu, renowned scientist, former Vice Chancellor of Madras University and former Principal of Loyola College will be honoured with Honoris Causa-Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) and renowned Attorney at Law, Shri R.N.Jhunjhunwala will be honoured with Honoris Causa, Doctor of Law (D.Sc.).
