PARTHA ROY, KOLKATA: Sanatan Sanskriti Sansad is going to organise a Bhagavad Gita recitation en masse on Krishna Paksha Tritiya tithi as per the Hindu calendar (7th December 2025) at Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata, where approximately 5 lakh participants are expected from across all districts of West Bengal and other states of Bharat. Sannyasis from Nepal and Bangladesh are expected to participate in the Bhagavad Gita recitation at Brigade Parade Ground. Men, women, youth—in fact, persons of all age groups—are expected to participate.
There is no entry fee. The program is scheduled to begin around 9 a.m. and continue till afternoon. However, participants other than sannyasis are requested to wear white clothes reflecting purity. All participants are requested to bring their own shankha or conch shell, as they are expected to blow the conch shell. The sounds of the conch shell are considered auspicious in Hindu religion since the pre-Vedic era. The organisers will provide the Bhagavad Gita and prasad to all participants, as stated by the organisers’ secretary, Nirgunananda Brahmachari, during the press conference on 26th November 2025.
Swami Pradiptananda Maharaj of Bharat Sevashram Sangha and president of the organising committee said the Bhagavad Gita plays a crucial role in personality building and acts as an inspiration in overcoming the challenges of everyday life.
Swami Pradiptananda Maharaj further said that the mass recitation of the Bhagavad Gita will facilitate the spread of Sanatan Dharma, Hindu culture, and promote Hindu unity, Hindu consciousness in the years ahead.
The program is expected to connect each participant to their Indic roots and wider Indic culture. Yoga guru Baba Ramdev, Sri Dhirendra Shastri of Bageshwar Dham Sarkar, famed Sadhavi Ritambhara, and many eminent sannyasis from various sects of Hinduism are expected to participate. The entire program will be presided over by Bhagavad Gita expert Swami Gnanananda Maharaj. A large number of celebrities, politicians, scientists, doctors, civil servants, and professionals from various fields are expected to participate in the mass recitation of the Bhagavad Gita. Three chapters of the Bhagavad Gita will be recited by the participants. Bhagavad Gita Jayanti will be celebrated on 1st December202 around the world this year.
