Kolkata Event Honors Woman Footballer Bhabani Munda for Empowering Women Through Sports
NEWS WAVE INDIA: MA Pest Control LLP and Citizenry Cybersuraksha Association jointly organized a special event to honor Mrs. Bhabani Munda, a footballer and coach, for her exceptional contribution to the cause of “Empowering Women – Empowering World.” The felicitation ceremony was held at the corporate office of MA Pest Control LLP in Kolkata.
Dr. Snehasis Sur, President of Press Club Kolkata, and Mr. Saikat Roy, CEO of MA Pest Control LLP and Director of Citizenry Cybersuraksha Association, presented Mrs. Munda with a commemorative plaque, a football, and a jersey.
Hailing from the Adivasi community of Kalchini Block in Alipurduar District, West Bengal, Mrs. Munda shared her inspiring journey. She recalled starting football with “Nibura” (pomelo) as a substitute for a leather football, overcoming societal biases that deemed football a men’s game. Despite challenges, including running a tea shop to make a living, her determination led her team to numerous victories in tournaments.
Today, Mrs. Munda manages three football teams, inspiring and training players while instilling self-discipline and a better quality of life. Her efforts have helped around 55 trainees secure employment in various fields.
Mr. Saikat Roy emphasized that this collaboration is more than a corporate social initiative but a shared vision of empowerment, even in the face of challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Snehasis Sur lauded Mrs. Munda’s resilience and applauded the support provided by MA Pest Control LLP and Citizenry Cybersuraksha Association.
Interacting with the media, Mrs. Munda expressed her commitment to fostering the next generation of players, aiming to inspire them both on and off the field.
