NEWS WAVE INDIA: In a groundbreaking development, Apollo Multispeciality Hospitals Kolkata has launched the country’s first comprehensive 5G-connected ambulance service. Equipped with cutting-edge medical technology and powered by ultra-fast and low-latency 5G connectivity, this state-of-the-art ambulance is set to transform emergency healthcare and potentially save lives.

The custom-designed ambulance features advanced medical equipment, patient monitoring applications, and telemetry devices that transmit real-time health data to the hospital. HealthNet Global Limited, a leading provider of health tech solutions and an affiliate of Apollo Hospitals, has played a crucial role in integrating the connected care technology into the ambulance.

With the 5G connectivity, the ambulance remains in constant communication with the hospital’s command centre, ensuring the closest ambulance is dispatched promptly to reach critically ill patients within the crucial “Golden Hour” time frame. Additionally, the ambulance transmits comprehensive telemetry data, including vital signs, to doctors and specialists at the hospital, enabling them to make informed decisions and provide remote guidance to the paramedics.

The 5G-connected ambulance also features onboard cameras that facilitate real-time collaboration between paramedics and emergency room (ER) specialists. Using the high-definition video feed, ER doctors can virtually guide paramedics in administering necessary aid and even basic procedures while en route to the hospital.

Dr. K Hari Prasad, President-Hospitals Division, Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Limited, expressed the hospital’s commitment to providing immediate access to critical care and lauded the 5G-connected ambulance as a groundbreaking tool that can save precious lives.

This innovative initiative by Apollo Multispeciality Hospitals Kolkata sets a new standard for emergency medical services in India, harnessing the power of 5G technology to ensure faster response times, improved patient outcomes, and enhanced connectivity between ambulances and hospitals.
