PARTHA ROY, KOLKATA: The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Eastern Region formally inaugurated its renovated headquarters in Kolkata on March 23, 2026. The historic building, where the institution’s journey began over 130 years ago as the Engineering and Iron Trades Association (EITA) before evolving into CII, has been transformed into a state-of-the-art, sustainable, and future-ready facility.
The renovation underscores CII’s dedication to excellence, innovation, inclusivity, and developmental leadership. The upgraded infrastructure will improve service delivery to members and strengthen stakeholder collaboration.
CII Eastern Region Chairman Shashwat Goenka called the occasion a proud milestone in the organisation’s more than 130-year journey. He described the renovated headquarters as a symbol of renewal and resilience, embodying CII’s vision to remain relevant, responsive, and responsible while serving industry and society. The modern facility will enable greater value for members, reinforce CII’s role as the Eastern Region’s growth catalyst, and boost initiatives in mining, agriculture, tourism, skills development, sustainability, safety, and industry-academia partnerships. As Eastern India positions itself as the nation’s growth engine, the refurbished headquarters will accelerate this momentum with renewed energy and purpose. Inauguration ceremony was also graced by Indian Industry stalwarts like Mr Mehul Mohanka,
