CARI organises Workshop to upgrade & update Ayurvedic Doctors

Partha Roy (Sr. Journalist): Central Ayurveda Research Institute, Kolkata, under Ministry of Ayush, Govt. of India organised a One Day Workshop on Agnikarma and Viddhakarma- a special therapy of Ayurveda in collaboration with National Ayurveda Students Youth Association – NASYA, West Bengal. The program was organized as part of Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav@75 – India.

The program was inaugurated by Dr. PVV Prasad, Director, CARI Kolkata. Dr. Sanjiv Samanta, Ex Principal, JB Roy State Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata was the Guest of Honor.

About 80 Ayurvedic Doctors from different parts of West Bengal as well as from Odisha, Madhya Pradesh participated in this program.
Expert Physician from Pune, Dr. Chandrakanta Deshmukh conducted technical and practical demonstrations of treatment Methodology.

Agnikarma is a special therapy termed as ‘heat therapy’ and Viddhakarma termed as bloodletting therapy are significant therapies as emergency treatment as the pain reliever for different chronic diseases such as joint pain, back pain, frozen shoulder, cervical spondylosis, etc. Agnikarma is also applied for the removal of warts, corn, etc.

The purpose of this workshop was to give hands-on training and skill development of Ayurvedic doctors & implement of the therapies in remote areas. The main aim of this workshop was to encourage young doctors to apply these special therapies for the treatment of different diseases. Agnikarma and Viddhakarma- special therapies of Ayurveda and its importance endorsed by the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India.

Dr.Tushar Kanti Mandal coordinated the program. Dr. Sumit Sur, Dr. Biswajit Ghosh, Dr. Arnab Ghosh, and other members from NASYA were present.

Earlier, Two day National Workshop on “Research Methodology And IPR ” was organised by CARI on 15-16 March 2022 to sensitise on modern research technology & develop skills amongst ayurvedic research scholars and doctors across India. The workshop initiated the path for the incorporation of modern research methodology in Ayurveda.
