Antique violin played by Ecuadorian violinist Jorge Saade-Scaff and enthralled audience at ICCR Kolkata

Partha Roy, Kolkata: Antique 1733 Italian made violin played by Ecudorian violinist Jorge Saade – Scaff and enthralled the audience while playing several composition with Ecudorian pianist Juan Carlos as a part of “Indo – Latin American Cultural Festival 4th Edition” at ICCR Kolkata on 26th September 2023.

Antique violin was made in Cremona Italy in 1733 and more than 290 years old as told by Professor Jorge Saade the violinist. Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) in association with Embassy of Chile, Embassy of Colombia, Embassy of Ecuador in India is organising the 4th Edition of the Indo – Latin American Cultural Festival. This vibrant celebration of culture and art aims to showcase the rich cultural heritage of Latin America. Indo – Latin American Cultural Festival serves as a testament to the enduring cultural bonds between India and Latin America fostering mutual understanding and appreciation of the rich traditions and artistic expression from both regions.

The program was attended by Ambassador of Ecuador in India Mr. Teodoro Maldonado, former Indian Ambassador Mr. K . Srinivasan, Mrs. Roli and Mr Ravindra Jain President of Myanmar Chapter of Global Organisation of People of Indian Origin and President of India Myanmar Chamber of Commerce, Ms. Minakshi Misra Head and Zonal Director ICCR Kolkata, Mr. Ramesh Chand Program Officer ICCR Kolkata, Prof. Shabina N. Omar O.S.D. Departments of Higher Education, Government of West Bengal, Mrs. & Mr. Islam Secretary Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata , celebrities from the city, large no.of music lovers in the city ,ICCR officials from Delhi, civil services officials and others.
Musical Duo Jorge Saade and Juan Carlos from Ecuador presented 15 compositions. Musical Duo began their performance by a composition titled ‘Meditation’. They also presented composition “Enchanted Journey” from Peru as well as “CONGA in E-Minor” from Cuba.

Musical Duo completed their performance with a composition called “ECUADORIAN DANCE” Master of Ceremony was Ms. Tanni Choudhuri an acclaimed Kathak dancer.

Jorge Saade is Director of The Philharmonic Department of The Municipality Of Guayaquil, Ecuador. He is also Professor at the ARTS UNIVERSITY OF ECUADOR and Honorary Consul of Belgium in Guayaquil. Juan Carlos is a lawyer also.

Jorge Saade & Juan Carlos hail from Ecuadorian city Guayaquil which will be celebrating its 203rd Anniversary of Independence from Spain on 9th October, 2023. Guayaquil became independent city on 9th October 1820 even before Ecuador became independent from Spain in May 1822. People of Guayaquil and Ecuador speak “Castellano” a version of Spanish language. Citizens of Guayaquil are proud of their rich cultural heritage and tradition which is existing over several centuries.
