PARTHA ROY, KOLKATA: The Royal Thai Consulate-General in Kolkata, in partnership with the International Institute of Hotel Management (IIHM), Tourism Authority of Thailand and CPF India, is presenting ‘Amazing Thailand in Kolkata 2026: Flavors, Films, Folklores & Friendships’. The celebration opend on 6 August with an exclusive Thai Food Festival at the IIHM Global Campus, followed by the 2nd Thai Film Festival from 7–9 August.
The food festival inauguration was attended by diplomats, industry leaders, celebrities from art , culture , film industry and media personalities. Consul-General Ms. Siriporn Tantipanyathep lead a live Thai cooking demonstration, with an authentic dinner prepared by internationally recognised Thai chef Samrong and IIHM chefs and students, alongside traditional Thai cultural performances. Under Ms. Siriporn’s tenure, people-to-people ties between India and Thailand have markedly improved. She is advancing the shared visions of the two Prime Ministers signed during the Indian Prime Minister’s visit to Thailand.
Indian tourist arrivals to Thailand have risen, boosting the Thai economy, while her efforts in promoting cultural links through Buddhism—long a historical bond between the two nations—have further deepened bilateral friendship.
