Actor Pallavi Chatterjee's PPF Account Closed with Death Claim, Rs. 9.17 Lakh Missing
NEWS WAVE INDIA: Actor Pallavi Chatterjee has reported a shocking incident of her PPF account being closed with a death claim and a transfer of Rs. 9.17 Lakh to an unknown SAVING BANK account, raising concerns over the safety of bank accounts.
Ms. Chatterjee, who had been depositing money in her PPF account (004PPF0000000015612) through Axis Bank Ltd, Sarat Bose Road Branch since 2016, visited the bank recently to deposit a cheque. However, she was informed that her account had been closed and asked to wait for 1-2 days to find out the status.
After two days, Ms. Chatterjee’s peon received a PPF account statement from the bank, which revealed that her account had been closed with a death claim, and the amount of Rs. 9.17 Lakh had been transferred to an unknown SAVING BANK account. Shocked and confused, Ms. Chatterjee has reported the incident to the police.
The police have started an investigation into the matter, and the officer in charge of Karaya PS, Mr. Pahari, has assured Ms. Chatterjee that they will do their best to find out what happened to her money. However, Axis Bank Ltd has yet to provide a clear answer as to where and how the money disappeared and who is responsible.
Ms. Chatterjee has expressed her concern about the incident and has urged her media friends to spread the word and create awareness about such incidents. She has also advised people to take necessary precautions and monitor their financial accounts regularly.
This incident has raised concerns over the safety and security of bank accounts, and Ms. Chatterjee’s case highlights the need for better measures to prevent such incidents from happening in the future.
