2 -Days “International Museum Expo” in Science City Kolkata in May 2024

Partha Roy, Kolkata: Two-days International Museum Expo will be held at Science City Kolkata on May 18-19, 2024. Main Theme of the Expo : “Museum for Education and Research” and will have many sub-theme.

2nd edition of International Museum Expo is organised by Ministry of Culture Government of India through National Council of Science Museum (NCSM). First edition of International Museum Expo held in New Delhi in May 2023 during India’s G-20 presidency.

“The idea of this International Museum Expo is to bring together museum professionals, private companies, start-ups, creative minds, architects, IT professionals, etc. who contribute to the development of museums in different capacities for the exchange of ideas, networking, infotainment, and peer-to-peer interaction and learning with each other.”explained Smt. Mugdha Sinha, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Government. of India.

International Museum Expo will facililate in re-imagining and redefining museum spaces and museum movements in India as well as facililate to broaden new understanding of museum movement and museum management around the world. International Museum Expo will facililate understanding of “Vikasit Bharat” across generations of Indians.

“The Expo will have exhibitions on various themes, key note addresses, parallel sessions, panel discussions, presentations by science museum professionals from across the world, … science demonstrations, a market place for start-ups and innovators, a special exhibition on innovation, a special corner for Indian women in STEM, etc. Apart from these, international science museums and science museum professionals will be invited to attend this expo.” highlighted by Shri Anurag Kumar, Director, Science City, Kolkata.

Shri A. D. Choudhury, DG, NCSM, urged everyone to attend this mega expo to explore various facets of science, new scientific developments , as well as explore scope and opportunity to participate in evolutionary and transformational development journey of India and humanity at large.
International Museum Expo is an initiative of Ministry of Culture Government of India that played important role in India’s cultural diplomacy, in a year where India held the G-20 Presidency.
