Rani Rasmoni’s 231st “Abirbhav Diwas” observed by Dakshineshwar Kali Mandir

Partha Roy, Kolkata: Rani Rasmoni’s 231st “Abirbhav Diwas” puja was organised by Dakshinwar Kali Mandir Trust in Kolkata on 29th September 2023 (11th Ashwin 1430 Bangabdo) at Rani Rasmoni Udyan in Esplanade area in Kolkata with great devotion and in elegant way.

The special “Abirbhav Diwas” puja involved chanting of auspicious mantra (mangalik stotra path), Saptasati Chandi Homam and other auspicious rituals. Rani Rasmoni Udyan is situated on the road built by Rani Rasmoni nearly two centuries ago. The gardan is maintained by Dakshineshwar Kali Mandir trust.

Elite members of the society, Celebrities, to common people of Kolkata, in fact people from various districts of West Bengal joined puja celebration to pay their respect to Rani Rasmoni popularly known as “Rani Ma”. Large numbers of descendants of Rani Rasmoni attended puja to pay their tribute to “Rani Ma” Shri Kushal Choudhary Trustee of Dakshineshwar Kali Mandir said the Abirbhav Diwas puja was organised to spread awareness about pioneering work done by Rani Rasmoni amongst present generations as well as inspire youths of today to work for upliftment of the maginalised in the society. Rani Rasmoni was known for her effort to promote social justice through social reformation, women empowerment, promotion of patriotism, education of women nearly two centuries ago.

Rani Rasmoni was astute strategist , reformist and humanist. Many of the conventions, rules and regulations developed by Rasi Rasmoni for fair trade are still in practice. Rani Rasmoni played significant role in upliftment of poor and the maginalised during her life time.

Rani Rasmoni was also known for her art of negotiation with the British rulers of the time for the benefits of indigenous local communities including fishing community. Rani Rasmoni is symbol of Excellence in “Sacrifice” , “Pure Devotion” and “Patriotism”.
