NEWS WAVE INDIA: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have signed English cricketer Jason Roy for INR 2.8 crore for the upcoming TATA IPL 2023 season, from his base price of INR 1.5 crore. The signing comes after the ruling out of Shreyas Iyer due to a lower back injury and Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan’s unavailability for the season.

This will mark Roy’s third IPL season, having previously played for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2021 season. The 32-year-old batsman played five games in the previous season, scoring 150 runs including a half-century. With 64 T20Is under his belt, Roy has scored 1522 runs at a S/R of 137.61 with 8 fifties, making him a valuable addition to the KKR squad.
