Indian Bengali Hindu origin Australian Barrister Varun Ghosh became Senator of Australian Parliament

Partha Roy, Kolkata: An Indian Bengali Hindu origin Australian Barrister & Politician Varun Ghosh became first Indian and first Bengali Hindu Senator of Australian Parliament.

Varun Ghosh was appointed by the Parliament of Western Australia in a joint sitting on 1 February 2024 to represent in Senate as Senator of Western Australia in Australian Federal Parliament. Varun Ghosh is representing the Australian Labor Party (ALP) & nominated by the ALP.

Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs & Leader of the Government in Senate, Senator Penny Wong welcoming Varun Ghosh wrote “Welcome to Varun Ghosh, our newest Senator from Western Australia. Senator Ghosh is the first ever Australian Senator sworn in on the Bhagavad Gita.
