The Archaeological Survey of India or the ASI has decided to light up its heritage monuments in the tricolour. The Ministry of Culture in its statement said, “Archaeological Survey of India of Ministry of Culture is illuminating 100 monuments in Tricolour across the country as India achieved landmark milestone of administrating 100 crore Covid vaccinations in one of the world’s largest and fastest vaccination drive.”

It is a beautiful sight to see different monuments such as Qutub Minar and Red Fort in Delhi lit up. Apart from them, Humayun’s Tomb in Delhi, Char Minar in Hyderabad and Tripura’s Bhubaneshwari Temple also has been lit in the national flag’s colour. Pictures and videos of them are being shared on social media.
The lights were lit up on Thursday evening and people gathered around these monuments to take a look at these mesmerising sights.
According to the ASI officials, the monuments were lit up to pay tribute to all the health professionals, frontline workers, scientists, vaccine manufacturers and the citizens of the country during this pandemic. Other UNESCO World Heritage sites are also being lit up as a tribute.

According to the government on Thursday, around 30 percent of the adult population are fully vaccinated and three-quarters of adults out of 1.3 billion population completed one shot.
