India Post unveils Logo of 250 years celebration of establishment of Kolkata G.P.O

Partha Roy, Kolkata: India Post unveiled logo of Celebration of establishment of 250 years Kolkata’s General Post Office which is completing 250 years in March 2024.

Kolkata G.P.O was established on 31st March 1774 and opened by then Governor General of Bengal Lord Warren Hastings at Fort William. Kolkata GPO is one of the most iconic building of Department of Post in Kolkata and landmark building of the city of joy.

Department of Post is organising painting contest, photography contest, sculpture designing contest on the theme “Kolkata GPO”. Last date of submission of entries 05 March 2024. India Post is welcoming peoples’ participation in 250 celebration program of Kolkata GPO. Logo was unveiled by Chief Post Master General West Bengal Circle Shri Niraj Kumar in presence of Post Master Generals of different postal regions.

Logo of 250 years celebration was designed by Shri A. Mazumdar and theme song of the celebration composed by Shri Saikat Ghosh, both are employees of India Post. Logo symbolises historical role to futuristic vision of India Post. India Post is playing catalytic role of bridging and connecting people for last several centuries across the country as well as with other nations.
Department of Post is organising a series of program 14 -19th March 2024 to celebrate the occasion. The 250 years celebration program is coordinated by Shri Tushar Kanti Chowdhury ADPS (Bldg. & Philately).
