NEWS WAVE INDIA: In a video that surfaced on social media on Wednesday, the fugitive radical preacher Amritpal Singh slammed the Punjab Police for arresting Sikh youths during their crackdown on him. Singh, who sympathizes with the Khalistan movement, wore a black turban and shawl and stated that the police could have come to his house to arrest him if the state government had intended to do so. He also claimed that “lakhs of cops” were sent to arrest him, but he was saved by the Almighty.
Singh’s video appeared amid reports that he may surrender soon. Meanwhile, the police have launched a major crackdown on Singh and members of his outfit, ‘Waris Punjab De.’ Although the police intercepted Singh’s cavalcade in the Jalandhar district recently, he managed to evade them.
The Khalistan movement seeks to create a separate state for Sikhs in Punjab, India. It has been a controversial issue, with some supporting it and others opposing it. The Indian government considers it a terrorist organization and has taken strong measures to suppress it.
The police are investigating the video and will take appropriate action according to the law. The situation remains tense as the police continue their crackdown on Singh and his associates.
