PARTHA ROY, KOLKATA: Governor of West Bengal Dr. C. V. Ananda Bose inaugurated 2nd Purvodaya Lit Fest at ICCR in Kolkata on 24th November 2025 . Noted Odia author Smt. Paramita Satpathy was honoured with ” 2nd Purvodaya Literary Excellence Award “. Eminent environmentalist and water conservationist Shri Rajendra Singh was guest of honour.
Purvodaya Lit Fest is distinct as it is involved in promoting Literature of East and North Eastern States of Bharat. Purvodaya Lit Fest is brainchild of visionary educationist , historian, polymath Shri Arindam Mukherjee , Director of Institute of Social and Cultural Studies ( ISCS ) . Purvodaya Lit Fest is being held from 24th – 28th November 2025 at ICCR in Kolkata.
Dr. C . V. Ananda Bose in his address highlighted importance of role of literature in promoting understanding between diverse culture as well as Intergenerational understanding of socio- cultural development including evolutionary changes in any Society. Governor Bose highlighted importance of ” Bhagwat Gita ” in shaping mindset across cultures not only in Bharat but even in the West. Bhagwat Gita has inspired people of all kinds to overcome challenges.
Dr. Bose inaugurated an Exhibition on ” The Indonesian Odyssey of Rabindranath Tagore” in presence of Honorary Consul of Indonesia in Kolkata Shri Mahesh Kumar Saharia. The exhibition is curated by Arindam Mukherjee . Dr. Sarup Prasad Ghosh Director MAKAIAS highlighted importance of the song ” Vande Matram” in light of Sri Aurobindo ‘s narratives. Presently ,Vande Mataram ‘s 150 years is being observed and Vande Mataram was sung at the start of inauguration ceremony.
Purvodaya Lit Fest is being organised by ISCS in collaboration with MAKAIAS, Sri Aurobindo Bhavan, Indian Council of Social Science Research , NBT India, Nalanda University , staffs and youth volunteers of ISCS & MAKAIAS. Beyond literary deliberations , the festival is organising a philatelic exhibition on literature, “Pater Gaan” , discussion on Women’s Empowerment and Literature, Fashion Show on Traditional Attire of Eastern India, Chhau Dance, Sit and Draw competition, Book Release, Discussion on Forces Behind the Resilience of Indian Constitution , Drama , Discussion on Science and Literature, Recitation competition, Nukkad, Natak, Photography workshop , Musical concert and more. Literature as well as creative art and culture aficionados of all ages are expected attend and participate in various sessions.
