210th Foundation Day of Indian Museum celebrated with opening of exhibition of Hinduism’s Sacred Tried ‘Brahma’, ‘Vishnu’ ‘Maheswara’

Partha Roy, Kolkata: Indian Museum, Kolkata celebrated its 210th Foundation Day on 2nd & 3rd February 2024 in Kolkata at its heritage premises. An Exhibition on Hinduism’s Sacred Triad exploring the realms of “Brahma”, “Vishnu” , “Maheswara” was inagurated by Governor of West Bengal Dr. C V Ananda Bose on 3rd February 2024 in presence of Diplomats based in the city, Director General of NCSM & Director of Indian Museum, members of civil society, historians, art & culture aficionados, top bureaucrats, young students & children and officials & staffs of Indian Museum.

On 2nd February, Nathaniel Wallich Memorial Lecture on theme “Small is Beautiful: Museums of the New Age ” was delivered by Dr. Venu V, IAS, Chief Secretary, Government of Kerala and a sarod recital was presented by noted sarod player Shri Bhaskar Sen.

The Exhibition is an exposition of Divine Threads of : “Shaswat Samannoy” (Unveiling the Mystique Symphony) , “Purush -Prakriti ” (Exploring the interplay of Spirit and Nature), “Mahesvara” (The Cosmic Rhythm) , “Brahma” (Weavers of the Tapestry of Creation), “Vishnu” (Orchestrating the Cosmic Preservation), “Dwasavatara” (Divine Incarnations and Cosmic Harmony) , “Mahadev” (Balancing the Edge of Annihilation). More than twenty two sculptures and other works of Art symbolising Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesvara, Purush-Prakriti, Mahadev of different historical periods are on display.

Dr. C V Ananda Bose in his address highlighted broader philosophical aspects of Brahma, Vishnu , Mahesvara and its importance in human development including management of every day Life. Dr. Ananda Bose stressed Indian (Hinduism) spiritual philosophy has received global recognition and playing important role in influencing socio-cultural evolution in different regions of the planet Earth.

Dr. C V Ananda Bose as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Indian Museum is initiating several innovative measures to promote public visit, public interactions, as well as to spread awareness about rich cultural heritage and tradition as well as philosophies of Bharat amongst various sections of the society.

Director of Indian Museum Dr. Arijit D. Choudhary in his welcome address spoke on rich collection of Indian Museum, critical & significant role played by staffs of various departments of the museum in organising this Exhibition as well as other exhibitions those are being organised by Indian Museum from time to time. Dr. A D Choudhury indicated the exhibition will further unerstanding on Hindu philosophy. Dr. A.D. Choudhury thanked all stakeholders of the Indian Museum including all staffs. While delivering vote of thanks, Dr. Sayan Bhattacharya Curator (Education) of Indian Museum mentioned the Exhibition will help to connect young generations specially students to rich cultural heritage & philosophy of Bharat. The Exhibition will be on display till 3rd March 2024.
