Dilip Guha, New Delhi: Bongo Porichoy a Socio-Cultural group based in Delhi NCR organised their first Cultural Event- “Samarpan” on 17th September ’23 at Indira Gandhi Kala Kendra, Sector 6, Noida. The group, recently formed with members from Noida, Greater Noida West, Indirapuram, Ghaziabad and Delhi aims to enliven the Spirit of Bengal amidst the Cosmopolitan Culture of the North.

The programme “Samarpan” was inaugurated by internationally recognised Scholar Dr. Amitava Mukherjee (Ex-IAS). The Guests of Honour given to accomplished artists who have contributed to the world of performing art are Mr Pradeep Ganguly (General Secretary Bengal Association-Delhi), Mrs Tapati Mukherjee (Founder of Ujaan-Women Musical group) and Mr Sandip Chakravarty (Ex-ACP Delhi Police) at the function.

Speaking on the occasion President Shri Subroto Upadhaya said “We here at Delhi NCR Over Miles away from Golden Soil of West Bengal are trying to keep our tradition & culture alive. The mission of Bongo Porichoy is to preserve and cherish the heritage, philosophy, culture and traditions of Bengal. We also wished to promote Young and budding Talented Artists through our platform.”

“Our Vision is to promote cultural understanding through organizing Cultural events and activities geared towards all age groups, that are connected to Bengali culture including music, dance, literature, performing and visual arts, recitation, theatre and popular contemporary culture.” He added.

The major attractions for the evening were the Musical Gala presented by Rajarshi Debray and Folk Songs of Bengal by “Ujaan” –All Women Musical Group. This brand is acclaimed for offering an unmatched top-level folk musical talent.

The noticeable Performances by young and budding Artists are Ms.Sara and Sriti Mahesh in Dance.
Singers Shayon Upadhaya and Swarlipi Sengupta presented enticing yet rhythmic music.

At the Senior Section -Dr. Gaurav Roy (Classical Singer), Shri Nilanjan Sengupta (Tabla) with disciples, Shri Swaraj Bhattacharya (Recitation), Dr. Sanchali Mukherjee (Recitation), Suman Bhattacharya (Recitation) & Debika Goswami (Recitation) graced the event with their respective talents.

Lastly, a theatre play “Nanibala der Katha” based on the life of the widows of Vrindavan Dham, written and directed by renowned playwright Sri Rabishankar Kar mesmerized the audience and was the grand attraction of the festival.
