PARTHA ROY, KOLKATA: The JIS Group hosted its flagship annual awards ceremony, JIS Samman 2026, in Kolkata on February 1, 2026, celebrating excellence, visionary leadership, and transformative contributions in academics, culture, sports, and public service. The prestigious event honored outstanding students, accomplished scholars, dedicated teachers, committed employees of the JIS Group, and eminent personalities whose work has left a lasting impact on society and advanced the nation’s progress.
Incidentally, February 1, 2026, also marked Guru Ravidas Jayanti, commemorating the iconic saint who played a pivotal role in social reformation during his era.
Dr. Binoy Kumar Das, Director General of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), was conferred with the JIS Maha Samman 2026 for his distinguished role as Director General of Electronics & Communication Systems at DRDO. Dr. Das has been a key architect of Operation Sindoor, contributing decisively to the successful deployment of indigenous defense systems such as Akashteer, Akash Missiles, and BrahMos. His efforts represent a historic milestone in bolstering India’s defense preparedness, technological sovereignty, and self-reliance.
The grand program was graced by Sardar Taranjit Singh, Managing Director of the JIS Group; Sardar Haranjit Singh, Joint Managing Director; Sardar Amrik Singh, Deputy Managing Director; and Sardarni Manpreet Kaur, CEO; along with directors and senior members of the JIS Group management. Their presence highlighted the organization’s commitment to celebrating excellence that goes beyond conventional boundaries.
Members of the JIS Group fondly remembered Sardar Jodhpur Singh, founder of the JIS Group, and his wife for their immense contributions to societal development.
The JIS Maha Samman 2026 was also awarded to Sardar Tarlochan Singh, former Member of Parliament (Haryana) and former Chairman of the National Commission for Minorities, in recognition of his distinguished service to public life, inclusive governance, and social equity; Smt. Haimanti Sukla, the eminent Indian classical singer, for her unparalleled contributions to Indian music, artistic excellence, and cultural heritage; and Shri Bhaskar Ganguly, former captain and goalkeeper of the Indian National Football Team, for his enduring legacy, leadership, and transformative influence on Indian football.
The evening’s cultural splendor was enhanced by a mesmerizing live performance from the renowned Sufi band Bolly Sufi, whose soulful renditions resonated with the event’s grandeur.
