NEWS WAVE INDIA: In a groundbreaking move to empower jute farmers across the nation, Smt. Rachna Shah, Secretary of the Ministry of Textiles, officially launched the android-based mobile application, “Paat-Mitro,” developed by The Jute Corporation of India Limited (JCI). The momentous event took place at the ‘Jute Symposium’ held on December 21, 2023.

The ‘Jute Symposium,’ a platform dedicated to raising awareness and promoting Jute-based technical textiles, drew representatives from various ministries and research institutes. The star of the symposium was undoubtedly the “Paat-Mitro” mobile application, which promises to provide crucial information to 40 lakh jute farmer families.

“Paat-Mitro” is a versatile mobile application available for download on the Google Play Store, offering information in six different languages. Jute farmers can now access essential details about Minimum Support Prices (MSP), agronomy practices, Jute Gradation Parameters, and farmer-centric schemes like ‘Jute-ICARE’ directly from their smartphones. The application also includes features such as weather forecasts, locations of JCI’s Purchase Centers, and procurement policies.

One notable feature is the integration of a Chatbot, allowing farmers to seek immediate assistance and answers to their queries. The application is not only user-friendly but also free of cost, ensuring that all functionalities are accessible to farmers without any financial constraints.

With the inclusion of the latest technology and comprehensive features, “Paat-Mitro” goes beyond providing information – it enables farmers to track the status of payments for the raw jute they sell to JCI under the MSP Operation.

The launch of “Paat-Mitro” marks a significant step towards digital empowerment in the agricultural sector, promising to revolutionize the lives of jute farmers by placing crucial information at their fingertips.
