NEWS WAVE INDIA: India’s premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah has undergone a successful back surgery in Christchurch, New Zealand, following his recurring back injury. The surgery was performed by Dr Rowan Schouten, a specialist in adult spinal conditions and hip replacement surgery.
BCCI sources have confirmed that the surgery was a success, and Bumrah is expected to be out of action for six months. This means he will miss the Asia Cup, and his potential return to the team is likely to be during the ODI World Cup in India, scheduled for October-November.
The absence of Bumrah will undoubtedly be a significant blow to India, as he is regarded as one of the world’s best pacers in all formats of the game. Bumrah’s unique bowling action and accuracy have earned him many fans worldwide and helped him become an integral part of India’s bowling attack.
India has a busy cricket schedule this year, with several high-profile tournaments, including the T20 World Cup and the Test Championship Final. Bumrah’s absence will be a considerable concern for the Indian team management, as he has been an essential part of India’s success in recent years.
However, the BCCI is expected to give Bumrah sufficient time to recover and rehabilitate properly before returning to action. The Indian team management is likely to explore different options to fill in the void left by Bumrah’s absence and ensure that the team is well-prepared for the upcoming tournaments.
