Partha Roy, Kolkata: Thailand is promoting cultural understanding with people of India through wider culinary culture.
The Royal Thai Consulate-General in Kolkata in collaboration with Mayfair Lagoon, Bhubaneswar in Odisha and with support of other Thai organisations organized “Thai Food Festival in Odisha” from 12 – 21 April 2024 in Bhubaneshwar.
During Inaugural reception address, Ms. Siriporn Tantipanyathep, Consul-General of Thailand in Kolkata emphasized that the purpose of the Festival was to promote closer people-to-people ties between Thailand and Odisha & India through the exchange of culinary cultures.
Thai Food Festival was well received by people of Odisha. and saw participation from wider section of the society. Thailand and India have historical cultural links for many centuries. Ms. Siriporn Tantipanyathep called upon people of Odisha to visit and explore rich cultural heritage of Thailand.
The Royal Thai Consulate-General is promoting Thai food as a part of Thai Government’s policy of promoting Thai food as a ‘Soft Power’ and ‘Ignite Thailand Vision’ that aims to develop Thailand as a global hub for food industry and to seek for new markets and opportunities. The Royal Thai Consulate General is spreading awareness about multiple benefits of including health benefits of Thai food to people of India.
