Partha Roy, Kolkata: International Author -Photographer -Industrialists Sampath Kumar ‘s two Books launched on 6th May 2023 at ICCR in Kolkata.

Srinivasan Sampath Kumar is Kolkata-born and wears several hats as a photographer, whose photographs have been exhibited in prestigious galleries around the world. He has authored three coffee table books, one each on Sundarban, Darjeeling, and Rabindra Sarobar. He is a bi-lingual poet, writing in Tamil and English, and has brought out three anthologies. His first English thriller novel, Frozen Waves, has been translated into Italian and now Bengali and was released today at a glittering function at the ICCR. Besides, he has authored a treatise on the Tamils of Bengal and a book on rules on self-conquest for students and teachers alike. Frozen Waves weaves an incredible mystery of hidden treasures in Sundarban and how a Roma gypsy reaches them with the help of a cerebral Amit Roy, a character that will befit Feluda.

Kumar carries the readers through the nooks and corners of the mangrove islands of Sundarban, China, Romania, and the U.S.A. in a pacey manner. Smt. Haimanti Goswami Banerjee and Smt. Sipra Bhattacharya have translated the Bengali edition, released by veteran Bengal politician Prof. Saugata Roy, M.P. Simultaneously, Kumar’s next novel, Èmó, is being released today by another popular literary face of Bengal, Shri Jawhar Sircar, M.P. Èmó, is a well-researched story that intertwines the story of the missing Malaysian airliner MH 370 and fuses therein the story of the abduction of an U.S. virologist into China and his forced production of a bioweapon, later named the coronovirus. Though fiction and imagination are at their height, most places are seemingly real. The creation of a fictional character, Yu Chen, nicknamed Èmó, the demon, makes the book immensely readable. Èmó is available both on Amazon Kindle and in print editions.

The Italian Government honoured Srinivasan Sampath Kumar with the second highest civilian award “Knighthood of the order of the Star of Italian Solidarity” in 2006. Regional Secretary of Sahitya Akademi Shri Devendra Kumar Devesh , as well as Kolkata ‘s many well known authors , photographers , industrialists , literary personalities, diplomats , graced the Book Release ceremony.
