ICCR hosts enthralling "Safr-E-Ruhaniyat" dance-musical based on Mirza Ghalib's poetries in Kolkata

Partha Roy, Kolkata: An enthralling dance musical “Safr-E-Ruhaniyat” based on poetries of Mirza Ghalib was hosted by ICCR in Kolkata on 29th June 2023.

Safr-e-Ruhaniyat presentation delve through the iconic poetries of Mirza Ghalib intertwined with Indian classical music and Kathak, experiencing the journey of emotions of the Nayika. Smt. Ritusri Chaudhuri kathak dancer, developed Concept,Design & Choreography of Safr-e-Ruhaniyat dance-musical.

Safr-E-Ruhaniyat explored human mind space from material and spiritual perspectives. It tried to interpret thinking of human mind and its connection with The Divine. The performance drew repeated warm appreciation and standing ovation from the audience.

The performance was attended by Shri Arindam Mukherjee Governing Council member of ICCR and Director ISCS- international thinktank, Ms. Minakshi Misra Head and Zonal Director of ICCR, famed Bengali Theater music reseacher & scholar Shri Debojit Bandyopadhyay, Shri Ramesh Chand, Program Officer of ICCR, Smt. Nilanjana Roy Member of Central Committee Sanskar Bharati, Mr. Maxim Deputy Consul General of Russia and his wife, Mr. Riazul Islam Counsellor (Education & Sports) Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata and his wife and many other celebrities from diverse sections of society, international students & Visitors to the city including large no.of dance and music enthusiasts.

Smt. Ritusri Chaudhuri kathak dancer and Artistic Director founded Nrityakshar Foundation which is a multi-faceted dance organization nurturing various artists of dance and music from across India.

Smt. Ritusri Chaudhuri is a creating a language beyond boundaries using dance, uniting the traditional and contemporary forms of art through experimentation and collaboration.

Smt. Ritusri Chaudhuri has received many honours including the coveted Euro Swiss Fellowship from Asian Cultural Council,NewYork (2008). She is also an empanelled artiste of Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre(EZCC),Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) and a recognized artist of SANGEET NATAK AKADEMI ,graded artist of Doordarshan, empaneled artist of Ministry of Culture. Ritusri Chaudhuri performed in various dance festival in India and abroad and presented Kathak dance performance as soloists, duet and group performer. Ritusri Chaudhuri also collaborated with international choreographers like Smt. Kumudini Lakhia, Mr. Gills Chuyen, Dr. Sun Oak Lee and others.

Ritusri Chaudhuri is taking rich cultural heritage specially Indian dance and music to various countries on the planet Earth and creating new narratives, understanding and perspective about rich Indian culture.
