President Droupadi Murmu Honors Outstanding Teachers on National Teachers' Day
NEWS WAVE INDIA: In a distinguished ceremony held today at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi, President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, bestowed National Awards upon teachers from various corners of the nation, marking the celebration of Teachers’ Day.
Addressing the audience, President Murmu underscored the pivotal role of elementary education in shaping individuals’ lives. She highlighted the significance of what she referred to as the “three-H formula” for the well-rounded development of children: Heart, Head, and Hand. The heart symbolized sensitivity, human values, strength of character, and morality, while the head represented mental development, reasoning abilities, and academic prowess. The hand was associated with respect for manual skills and physical labor. The President stressed that holistic development of children necessitated a focus on this comprehensive approach.
Recognizing the growing presence of women in the teaching profession, President Murmu called for an increase in the number of female teachers receiving Teachers’ awards. She emphasized that supporting and encouraging female students and teachers played a crucial role in women’s empowerment.
President Murmu asserted that teachers were the architects of the nation’s future, emphasizing that quality education was every child’s fundamental right, with teachers playing a pivotal role in achieving this goal. She highlighted that the National Education Policy 2020 had also underlined the importance of teachers as nation-builders.
The President underscored the shared responsibility of teachers and parents in recognizing and nurturing the unique abilities of each child with care and sensitivity. She noted that parents entrusted their children to teachers with great trust and that it was a privilege for every teacher to impart love and knowledge to their students.
President Murmu further remarked on the lasting impact of teachers in students’ lives, noting that the praise, encouragement, or even discipline they received from their educators remained etched in their memories. She stressed that the intention behind discipline was for the betterment of students, and the act of imparting love and affection was equally, if not more, important than imparting knowledge.
In her concluding remarks, President Murmu celebrated the profound influence of teachers in society, acknowledging their commitment to shaping the future generation.
The ceremony marked a fitting tribute to the dedication and hard work of teachers across India, highlighting their crucial role in molding the nation’s youth and fostering its development.
