NEWS WAVE INDIA: In response to commuters’ demands, the Metro General Manager, Shri P. Uday Kumar Reddy, has decided to increase the daily services on the Purple Line’s Joka-Taratala stretch for the benefit of Behala area residents. Starting from May 1st, 2023 (Monday), the number of daily services will double from 12 to 24 (12 UP + 12 DN) within four months of the stretch’s commencement of services.
Following the “One Train Only System,” the frequency of Metro services on the Joka-Taratala stretch will reduce from 60 to 40 minutes, and there will be no service gap during noon hours.
The first Metro from Joka will depart at 08.55 hrs, and the last service from Joka will depart at 16.20 hrs. There will be no service gap from 12.00 hrs to 15.00 hrs from Joka on the UP direction. Similarly, the first Metro from Taratala will be available at 09.20 hrs, and the last service from Taratala will be available at 16.40 hrs. There will be no service gap from 12.30 hrs to 15.30 hrs from Taratala on the DN direction.
According to Kausik Mitra, CPRO, Metro Railway, the long-awaited demand of office-goers and students of different educational institutions will be fulfilled, and the increase in daily services will benefit the people of that area. However, there will be no commercial services on Saturdays and Sundays on this stretch.
