world's most populous nation India
NEWS WAVE INDIA: In a recent development, India has overtaken China to become the world’s most populous nation, according to the latest data released by the United Nations. The UN world population dashboard shows that India’s population now stands at 1.4286 billion, while China’s population is slightly lower at 1.4257 billion, making it the second most populous country in the world.
This news comes as a surprise as China has held the top spot for several decades. However, India’s population has been growing at a faster rate, and experts predict that it will continue to do so in the coming years.
In addition to this, a new report from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) sheds light on the age distribution in India. According to the report, 25% of India’s population falls within the 0-14 years age group, 18% falls within the 10-19 years age group, 26% falls within the 10-24 years age group, 68% falls within the 15-64 years age group, and 7% are aged above 65 years.
This shift in population dynamics is expected to have significant implications for India’s economy and society, as the country will need to address the challenges of providing healthcare, education, and employment opportunities for its growing population.
Overall, India’s rise to become the world’s most populous nation is a major milestone, and one that will shape the country’s future in the years to come.
